I have known Regency Cleaning as a company since July 2004 when they were invited to tender for the cleaning of the school I was working at the time, Sir William Borlases’ Grammar School, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Regency quickly transformed the school from a place where the consistent standard of cleaning had been unsatisfactory or even poor for years, to one where staff regularly thanked the cleaners for achieving a consistently good level of cleaning.
I started employment at this school in August 2007. We are a secondary school with a roll of about 950 students and have a large complex site of over 10,000 square meters. The total value of the cleaning contract is around £140k and runs for 52 weeks per year. The school, whilst moderately clean in some areas, had been subject to continually ineffectual holiday cleaning, as the previous cleaning contractor failed to demonstrate to its cleaners anything about deep cleaning.
On the basis of my positive experiences of regency, they were invited to tender for the contract here in June 2008 when the previous contract came up for renewal. Regency won the contract and the cleaners that transferred under TUPE were suddenly given direction and boundaries in which to operate. They were penalized for lateness and talking on their phones and consequently these problems were eradicated. The cleaning supervisor transformed into a proficient and capable manager who started to give clear authoritative direction to the cleaners.
Regency does what it says on the tin, which is rare for cleaning companies as many fail to release their promises from my experience, particularly in the mid-term of the contract. Regency are pivotal in ensuring holiday cleans are successfully arranged as it appears that many school cleaners have no idea how to undertake a deep clean otherwise.
Our Ofsted inspection of 2013, two of the inspectors commented positively on the general state of the cleanliness across the school.
I would recommend Regency Cleaning as a contractor without reservation.
